Please join me and 40 other members of Artists in Our Midst for a curated exhibition at the Visual Space Gallery at 3352 Dunbar st. It will be an exciting weekend where artists of all categories can showcase their unique creativity. We are raising funds to support the West of Main Art Walk in May. I will be there at the opening reception, Saturday, January 31st, 2-4 pm and would love to see you and all your friends and relatives there. Verity
Visit "New Works" to see my picture "Salmon Puntledge river " that was selected by jury for this exhibition.
These Salmon return every year and create turmoil in the rushing fresh river water, as they compete for spawning grounds.

The English country side was my backdrop, as I grew up. But, my eyes were focused on science and medicine. Fifty years later, my vision turned towards the wonders of Canada. I attended Emily Carr University Fine Arts Diploma continuing studies program. I am an Exhibiting Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and a member of Artists in our Midst. I enjoy the challenges of combining theory with the practice of Art.

My eyes are my camera, they travel with me. I need to get away from the city and await each season with pleasure. I dream of capturing the ethereal changes of light. Its reflection on water, its dances through foliage and on the faces that speak to me.
Salmon represent all that is beautiful in British Columbia. My paintings are designed to remind all of us, of our debt of allegiance to them.

I began my journey exploring the translucency of water colours, I veered towards the intensity of acrylic colours and now try to combine them. Paint is like stained glass, the more the light gets through, the more secrets are exposed.
The use of acrylic collage creates a new dimension, allowing negative spaces to suggest the fluidity of elements, the flow of water, the movement of fish or the flights of birds.
